What is a Virtual Fundraising Book Tour
A virtual fundraising book tour gives you, the author, the opportunity to partner with a favorite charity or a cause near and dear to your heart. During the tour you will be donating a percentage of book sales to the selected organization. In order to raise the most funds for the partner organization they will promote and sell your book too.
First you must
decide:

charity or cause you would like to partner with?
· What
percentage per book sold do you want to donate?
· How
long will the tour run?
A fundraising book tour can be tied to a holiday, such as:
· A
Valentine's Day fundraiser to raise money for heart disease.
· A
Mother's Day fundraiser to raise money for breast cancer.
· A
Fourth of July fundraiser to raise money for disabled veterans.
· A
Christmas Holiday fundraiser to raise money for the homeless.
These tie-ins add more sales and offer great exposure for brand recognition while helping give back.

An easy way to track partner sales is to use affiliate links. An affiliate link has a tracking code built that identifies the click as coming from that affiliate's site. The author can track which tour partner should be credited for the customer sent to their site. Each sale is then tracked in the affiliate program.

For this tour we had a very special "Tea for Mom and Me" reading group. We held reading group chats, published a newsletter for members of the reading group, and awarded donated prizes to reading group members. Promotion was increased through author interviews by Mom bloggers and on Yahoo Groups.
The Cowboy-Up Holiday
Tour and fundraiser was an idea developed when Horse Tales for the Soul,
author Bonnie Marlewski-Probert was set to go on the road on a book tour and
her husband became very ill. After brainstorming, it was decided to hold the
tour virtually with a target of helping
a 40 therapeutic riding stables and horse rescues nationwide. When the tour
